This special place is close to everything, making it easy to plan your visit. Relax with the whole family or a group of friends. A standard standalone baby cot is available, upon prior request for our young guests. An old traditional stone house, which harmonises with the surrounding environment of rock and limestone and engulfs nature's most intrinsic plants, flowers and vegetables around the garden. It is located just a stone's throw from the old town centre, known as pazar, whilst at the same time it offers guests peace and privacy. Welcome to Gjirokastër.
My father, Edmond, has been revealing the challenges of life, through economical and radical political changes, and the recent years, it was his family home, where he grew up, that he wanted to reveal to the people of the globe. My role within this pure and warm effort is to support my father, through this dignified residence of many stories, where only the stone walls have witnessed, to facilitate those that life led them to the town of Gjirokastër.
The neighbourhood was full of life through the communist era from early morning, where mothers had to line up from 5am for a pint of milk, till the late evening where the eldest male of the family rolled a last cigarette, of pure tobacco, before going to sleep. The stone city, as Gjirokastër is nicknamed, is full of cobblestone streets and alleys, of dolomite rock, where a thousand stone carvers and builders fastidiously brought in life.
