Company info

We both love living in Ehrwald and enjoy our beautiful mountains. Gary is a keen skier and now enjoys ski touring as well. In summer he climbs and also enjoys via Ferrata and he is always happy to share his knowledge with our guests. I enjoy walking and hiking as I am not quite as fit or adventurous as Gary! I spent most of my childhood school holidays in Ehrwald and so have a wealth of knowledge about the village and the Zugspitzarena and love to share this with our guests if they are interested.

Haus Karl's Ruh was handed down to us by my Uncle and Grandma in 1996 and we moved permanently to Ehrwald from the UK in 2007. We have completely renovated the house, which was previously run as a B&B by my Grandma, and are now slowly building the business. We have elected not to have televisions in our rooms in order to ensure peace and tranquility for all our guests and to continue my Grandma's mantra of complete rest and relaxation! We are located in the heart of the village, 5 minutes walk from the village centre and ski lifts, with the panoramic Wetterstein Range as our backdrop. We have an in depth knowledge of the village and the surrounding areas and, due to our location within the Zugspitz Arena, we are an excellent base for walkers and climbers during in the summer months and ski and snowboard enthusiasts in the winter.

Neighborhood info

Ehrwald is best known for it's beautiful location under the Zugspitze and we are 10 minutes drive from the cable car. We are lucky to be able to step out of our front door and chose from so many hiking, climbing and biking trails that we will probably never manage to do them all! We also have some of the best bathing lakes in the Tirol, and for those who prefer not to swim, it is lovely to just walk around the lakes. Innsbruck, Garmisch, Munich, Füssen and even Italy and Switzerland are all places to visit for day trips.
