Bushwalk Escape 1770 is the ideal spot for couples to disconnect from everyday life and reconnect with each other, surrounded by the beautiful Australian bushland. This eco-friendly retreat offers a peaceful sanctuary where you can wander along a serene bushland boardwalk, wake gently to the sounds of kookaburras, and unwind by roasting marshmallows over the fire beneath a sky full of stars. The thoughtfully designed tiny house blends comfort with a deep connection to nature and to each other.
The idea to open a nature-campground in the relaxing beachside town of Agnes Water on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, was initially sparked by spending many years in the breathtaking Kakadu National Park. Mike spent a couple of decades working as tourguide in Arnhemland and Kakadu before managing a bushcamp for five years and becoming seasonal ranger for National Park and Widlife. After travelling around Australia for many years, Mike and Michi found their own piece of paradise in February 2017, right here on the Discovery Coast! The family love sharing their home with Traveller’s from all over the world – a place where you can forget about the hustle and bustle in your daily lives, where you are surrounded by native bushland, where you can listen to the chatter of the Kookaburra’s, whilst enjoying a cup of tea overlooking the Lily Pad Pond. They always knew that Mike’s passion in presenting interpretive programs in Kakadu would move with them to Queensland. So, it didn’t take long for Mike to start researching about the history and culture of the Discovery Coast and “Mike’s Moonlit Tales – from Arnhemland to the Coast” took shape. Mike also spent time volunteering with an environmental group in Tannum Sands to learn more about the native flora and fauna, and worked closely with indigenous elders and local Tourism Organizations to present valid information to their campers. Overtime, Mike discovered a vast variety of bushtucker and bush medicine on their property. It didn’t take Mike and Michi long to discover the value of their combined knowledge and they created another asset to their Ecotourism certified campground – BushTracks Eco Tours! “Traveller’s Rest 1770 Eco Camping” is the perfect starting point to explore the Discovery Coast. Whether you want to explore one of the 4WD tracks into the National Parks, watch the waves spill over the rocks on untouched beaches or enjoy a famous sunset at Captain Cook’s landing spot – 1770.
