Bylands Cottage offers sweeping views of the Tambo river which can be enjoyed both from the vast front deck or from the comfort of the home. Free Wifi has recently been installed at the property for guest internet use. The Cottage sleeps 6, and as the only residence on the property you will have complete privacy with no owners looking over your shoulder. Sheets and towels are supplied along with all other necessary bedding. A portable cot is also available (guests to supply own cot bedding). The home offers a split system for heating and cooling, fans in all 3 bedrooms and the wood fire in the lounge room is available for guest use. A box of wood and kindling will be provided every 2 nights for the duration of your stay from May to September. The kitchen facilities are basic but allow guest to cook from home and to enjoy the views while cooking inside or out. Basic tea/coffee and milk are provided on first night of arrival. The property is on 1.2 hectares, with the house on approximate .4 hectares. The resident alpacas live in the paddock area. There is a fenced in a the back of the house where we securely keep our dog, and where guest will find a herb/ vegetable garden, outdoor toilet (there is also an indoor one) and a sandpit for the kids are located. Plenty of space is available for parking of boats or trailers, with a large undercover carport also on the property. The property is pet friendly, but to help us keep out house clean and fresh we ask that pets remain out of bedrooms areas and off furniture, and request that guests clean up after dogs prior to departing.

We are a family of 5 who fell in love with the house and purchased in mid 2021. We worked on the house at every opportunity so it was ready for guest by the 2021/22 Christmas break. The cottage was first named in the late 1800s after Byland Abbey, England. We must stress that the house is over 100 year old and as you would expect from a house of that age it has its quirks and some assetic imperfection. We love a project and continuing to restore and improve the house is part of the reason we purchased the house. We hope that you enjoy our home as much as we do. The Tambo River is located right across the road from the cottage with water access via a 2 small platforms suitable for fishing within a 2 minute walk. Metung is 5 minutes away, Lakes Entrance is 15 min and the Johnsonville waterfront precinct, which includes a boat ramp and jetty is located just under 5 minutes away. Bairnsdale is also only a 15 min drive. The Metung Hot Springs as well as the golf course, are just an 7 min drive from the property.
