You’re just 5 minutes from Dorrigo, 7 minutes from the Rainforest Centre and Dangar Falls, and surrounded by native wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, and deer. Fernbrook is one of those places that reminds you Australia has more settings than “beach” and “traffic.” Up here on the Dorrigo Plateau, you’ll get cool mountain air, wide open views, and the sort of quiet that makes your phone feel slightly unnecessary (it will survive, don’t worry). Dorrigo is a proper country town with a laid-back pace, friendly locals, and enough fresh green scenery to make you forget what a shopping centre looks like. It’s also the gateway to Dorrigo National Park, home to rainforest walks, lookouts, and waterfalls that don’t mess about — including Dangar Falls, a 30-metre drop just outside town.  If you’re into nature with a side of “wow,” the Rainforest Centre is close by, and the Crystal Shower Falls walk is a local favourite where you can literally walk behind the waterfall (yes, it’s as good as it sounds).  You’ll also spot cattle grazing on neighbouring farms, and if you’re lucky, wildlife like kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, and echidnas. For 4WD types, the surrounding forest trails and Waterfall Way adventures keep things interesting — without needing a passport or a tour guide.
