We are Caitlin & Jarrod and we are the proud owners of the Penguin Beach House. We love the North West of Tasmania (Caitlin was born and raised here.) We regularly visit with our young family and love exploring the beautiful beaches, the yummy cafes & restaurants, the parks, the walking tracks and the plethora of local tourist attractions. Sitting on the edge of Bass Strait, Penguin does indeed take its name from a nearby rookery, where you can see little penguins return from the sea each night. It's obvious the town is proud of its residents: there's a 3m-high “giant penguin” for photo opportunities, penguins featured artistically on rubbish bins, and other penguin signage scattered about. Penguins aside, there is also the local undercover market held every Sunday, the Penguin Beer Co for the craft beer enthusiasts, Seasons by the Sea restaurant for delicious local produce & the Penguin Heritage Trail which will take you on a tour of 26 historic sites. Penguin is also a central point of the north west of Tasmania. A great place to stay and do day trips from. THE PRODUCE The north west of Tasmania delivers the ultimate paddock-to-plate experience. Meet the producers on the Tasting Trail and try local berries, hazelnuts, cheese, chocolate, craft beer and wine. Hunt for truffles. Eat seafood straight off the boats. Tuck into a succulent steak.
