Hello and welcome — your hosts are Melinda & Geoff We warmly welcome you to the town of Preston Beach, to the Footprints Preston Beach Resort, and to our privately managed Townhouse No. 7. We personally fell in love with the resort and the Preston Beach area for its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and the endless outdoor adventures enjoyed by adults and children alike. It is a truly unique location and one of the few places in Western Australia where 4WD beach access is still permitted. The resort itself is peaceful, welcoming, and perfect for unwinding. A highlight of staying here is the abundance of native wildlife that calls the resort home, offering memorable encounters right outside your door. The area is also renowned for its natural beauty. Nearby Yalgorup National Park and its surrounding lakes attract a wide variety of native animals and birdlife. Visitors can enjoy viewing platforms, boardwalks, and several scenic walking trails suitable for all ages. Preston Beach is ideally located near the cities of Mandurah and Bunbury, as well as popular tourism towns including Dwellingup, Waroona, Pinjarra, and Harvey. It’s an ideal base from which to explore Lake Clifton and Yalgorup National Park — one of the few places in the world where you can view thrombolites, among the oldest known living organisms on Earth. Just 45 minutes south of Mandurah, Preston Beach offers a peaceful sanctuary for native flora, fauna, and holidaymakers seeking a quieter coastal escape. Yalgorup National Park is internationally significant for its thrombolites — often called “living rocks” — formed by microbial life over millions of years. Beyond this natural wonder, the park’s salt-water lakes and wetlands are teeming with wildlife. The area becomes a temporary home to hundreds of migrating birds each year, along with many resident waterbirds, including the endangered hooded plover. A network of walking trails allows visitors to immerse themselves in the landscape, with opportunities to observe native plants and animals and, in spring, carpets of vibrant wildflowers. Popular walks offer sweeping views across Lake Preston towards Myalup, as well as access to bird hides positioned along the water’s edge. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy the scenic nine-hole course at the Preston Beach Golf Club, where undulating fairways sit alongside bushland and wetlands — all under the watchful gaze of resident kangaroos and emus.
