Seascape Cottage is a comfortable coastal stay on Kangaroo Island, just 10 minutes from the ferry in the quiet beachside town of Baudin Beach. The outdoor deck is one of the best parts of the property. It is large, open, and set up for spending time together, whether that is breakfast outside, a drink in the afternoon, or watching the sky change as the sun goes down. Inside, the house has two separate living areas, which works really well for families or groups. You can all be together when you want to be, with space to spread out and relax when you need it. The coffee station is something guests really enjoy, with a pod machine, milk frother, a range of teas, and a few extra touches that make it easy to start the day properly. Baudin Beach is just a short walk from the house. It is a beautiful, quiet beach that is great for exploring, walking, and spotting wildlife, and is one of those places that feels untouched and never crowded. The house is set up to make your stay easy, with a well-equipped kitchen, plenty of space to unpack, and thoughtful touches throughout. Whether you are here for a short break or a longer stay, it has everything you need to feel comfortable without having to think too much about the details. Seascape Cottage is a great base for exploring Kangaroo Island, and a comfortable home away from home to come back to after a day out seeing everything the island has to offer.

Seascape Cottage is owned by Jon and Amanda, supported by Property Manager Kelly, Housekeeping Manager Leala, and our gardening and maintenance crew. We feel so very lucky to have them. They take a lot of pride in what they do, which shows in the way the house is prepared and looked after for each guest. We bought the cottage as our own Kangaroo Island retreat. Life has become busier over the years, especially with grandchildren now in the mix, so we don’t get over as often as we’d like. Sharing it with others has turned out to be something we really enjoy. We love Kangaroo Island and are always out exploring when we’re there. We have our go to spots, but we also try something new each trip. Amanda manages the cottage across social media and the website, where she shares local experiences, cafes, restaurants, and the landscapes and wildlife Kangaroo Island is known for. Baudin Beach is one of those places that doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. That’s part of what makes it so special. The coastline is made up of a few distinct sections, which makes it really interesting to explore. One end has the Deep Creek river outlet with high cliffs. From there, the coastline runs past the boat ramp with a mix of cliff faces and beach. Further along, it opens out into an area where sand dunes surround the beach. The beach itself is a mix of rocky areas and beautiful white sand. It’s a tidal beach, so there are plenty of rock pools to explore as well. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend an entire afternoon just wandering and seeing what you come across. Most of the time, you’ll find you have the beach almost to yourself. There is a lot of wildlife around the beach, and it’s something people often comment on. You’ll usually see pelicans, Pacific gulls, and black swans, along with smaller birds like superb blue wrens and cockatoos. If you’re lucky, you might also spot dolphins or even a seal. There’s a clifftop walk that is well worth doing. There is also a picnic table positioned right on the cliff, which is perfect for a sunset drink or a picnic dinner looking out over the ocean. It’s a very small and quiet town. There are no shops or places to eat. There is a great little art gallery. There are no street lights. The night sky is something you don’t forget. Penneshaw is only a 10 minute drive away. That’s where you’ll find cafes, restaurants, and a supermarket. It’s a nice balance. You get the peace and space of a quiet coastal town. You’re still close enough to head out for dinner or grab a coffee.
