Built in 2020 and a finalist in the 2021 Australian Timber Design Awards, "The Barn" is quite simply an extremely unique and stunning space, set in a secluded and immensely peaceful farmland setting overlooking our grazing sheep and cows. It was designed and built to resemble a classic Australian Shearing Shed on the outside, and an old English Barn on the inside - two styles of architecture that we love. The Barn offers stunning views of Mount Lofty to the west, across the Onkaparinga Valley and to Lake Alexandrina, overlooking 100+ year old gum trees and blue-ribbon natural pastural land to the east. Built by a former English Barn Builder, and a specialist in working with reclaimed hardwoods, the materials used in the building and the history of where they were sourced tell a fascinating story. The craftsmanship used in the build is extraordinary, and uses techniques not often used in Australia. It is truly a one-of-a-kind building that can not be replicated, and we feel extremely fortunate to be its owners. Accommodation in The Barn is strictly limited to 2 adults with a 2 night minimum booking. The property is not suitable for children and for bio-security and fire danger reasons, no smoking or pets are allowed on the property. Being fully self-contained and open plan in its layout, The Barn includes a well-equipped handmade timber kitchen, bathroom and large elevated deck. Facilities provided include a Queen size bed, all linen, fully equipped custom-made kitchen, microwave oven, Miele dishwasher, Smeg toaster, kettle, oven, range hood, cooktop and refrigerator/freezer, coffee plunger, reverse cycle air conditioning, selection of games, electric blanket for cooler months, hair dryer, DVD player and complimentary access to our extensive 500+ DVD library, Weber Baby Q BBQ, and smart TV . The Barn is situated just 5 minutes from Nairne or Woodside, 10 minutes from Balhannah, and 15 minutes from Mount Barker or Hahndorf. There are so many things to explore and experience nearby - Green Valley Strawberry Farm and Lot 100 are less than a 5 minute drive away. Or if you're looking for a Cellar Door experience, Howard Vineyard, Murdoch Hill Wines, Artwine, Bird in Hand, Simon Tolley and Barristers Block are all close neighbours. If plants are more your style then head to Manor Nurseries, or Karoo Nursery, both very close by. Or wander through the Old Wares Shops and Melbas Chocolate Factory in Woodside, or have brunch at Beerenberg Strawberry Farm and wander down the main street of Hahndorf. There is so much to see and do from here.
