The Old Schoolmaster's Cottage on the Barrington River is a historic, renovated, weatherboard farm Cottage and, yes, there was an old Schoolmaster who retired here. A slice of history and the ideal escape for couples, families or a group of friends. A large outside covered verandah with teak outdoor dining setting is the perfect place to immerse in a book or sit back, relax, enjoy friends and take in the surroundings over a cuppa, beer or glass of wine. The Cottage enjoys a gorgeous outlook over working river flats and the Bucketts Mountain Range. Renovated and decorated throughout with all rooms featuring contemporary furniture - the house boasts (almost) every modern facility and appliance, including reverse cycle air-conditioning in the main living area and a slow combustion fire. 3 bedrooms (2 queen beds and 2 single beds). Ceiling fans in bedrooms. 2 bathrooms - one full bathroom with bath, shower recess and toilet and the second is a separate toilet The kitchen is fully equipped with a Miele oven, large fridge, microwave, Miele dishwasher and cooktop. With a gas BBQ on the verandah your cooking needs are well and truly covered.

Framed by stunning working farmland that spans from the banks of the Barrington River to productive working river flats and up to the famous "Gloucester Bucketts. You will relax on arrival - we do.
Our Cottage is in Barrington New South Wales which is a comfortable 3 hours drive north of Sydney and under 1.5 hours drive from Newcastle,. The Old Schoolmaster's Cottage is the perfect location for those seeking tranquility and relaxation. The Cottage is also ideally located for those who wish to explore the World Heritage listed Barrington Tops and Gloucester Tops to marvel at the extreme natural beauty of the area. Canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, horse-riding and golf are all nearby. Fifteen minutes in a car takes you to the historic Gloucester town center, with cafes, supermarkets, museums and parks as well as extremely friendly locals.
