Welcome to Shiralee Hostel — where your Perth adventure starts and your plans definitely change. Smack bang in the Perth CBD, you’re a 12-minute walk from Northbridge’s bars, restaurants, and nightclubs (yes, those nights), and just a 4-minute drive from Beaufort Street’s café crawl. House rule: bring a valid passport for check-in. Hang out on the terrace, flip something on the BBQ, or make new “best friends for 3 days” in the shared lounge. The communal kitchen is ready for your culinary masterpieces (or instant noodles — we don’t judge). Mornings are covered with free breakfast — toast, bread, butter, peanut butter, marmalade, and jams to help you recover and reset. There’s free Wi-Fi in public areas, laundry facilities to rescue your backpack wardrobe, and vending machines for late-night snack emergencies. All rooms are air-conditioned, with shared bathrooms and zero pressure — just good vibes and chilled living. When you’re ready to explore (or escape), Kings Park is a quick 9-minute drive for views and picnics, and Cottesloe Beach is only 20 minutes away for salty swims and sunset magic. Sleep. Snack. Socialize. Repeat. Shiralee Hostel — because hotels are boring

Very social hostel, with a good mix of people from all over. Bed was comfy and the basic breakfast is a nice little touch. The hostel has a very homey vibe and felt much more like a house than a hostel

Must-know information for guests at this property

Before confirming your stay, please note the following important information about the environment you are booking into:

We are a backpackers’ hostel, not a hotel. Guests come from all over the world, sometimes for one night and sometimes for longer periods. The atmosphere is social, busy, and at times unpredictable. Some people enjoy this experience, while others may not.

We work hard to keep the hostel clean, safe, and well‑maintained. Dedicated cleaners are on‑site for 9 hours each day to maintain shared areas and facilities. However, as this is a shared environment used by many guests, conditions can change throughout the day.

Please understand the following:

Noise: Some guests may not keep noise levels down, especially at night. People may be talking, socializing, or having drinks. While we have rules in place, we cannot control noise 24/7.

Cleanliness: Not all guests clean up after themselves properly. Many of our guests are aged 18–30 and are traveling independently for the first time. Some may not understand the importance of washing, drying, and putting away dishes or keeping shared spaces tidy.

Shared responsibility: A hostel relies on guests respecting each other and the space. We address issues when we see them, but we cannot monitor all areas at all times.

Additional notes:

Weekends (Friday and Saturday nights) are busier and more social.

Events and peak travel periods increase noise and activity.

This is a lively environment, not a quiet hotel setting.

If you are looking for a quiet, hotel‑style stay with strict control over noise and cleanliness, this may not be the right place for you.

Complaints & Refund Policy

If you choose to book and later complain about noise levels or shared‑space cleanliness, we will refer you to this information provided prior.

We do not offer refunds due to noise, guest behavior, or shared‑area cleanliness issues, as these are part of the normal hostel environment and are clearly outlined in advance.

We want all guests to have a good experience, so we encourage you to consider this carefully before booking.

Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.
