Elevated on a hill to capture tropical breezes, the property has stunning views of Thornton Peak, Cape Tribulation and the Coral Sea. We are located in close proximity to the beautiful Cow Bay beach, numerous waterholes, mangroves and rainforest boardwalks. Our location is ideally suited to travel this special area - from Cape Tribulation to the Daintree River The bungalows’ construction utilised rammed earth to ensure a cool interior and designed to maximise views of the mountain ranges from the comfort of your bedroom and bathroom. Each bungalow has private undercover decking with seating and self -contained cooking facilities. Each has an private outdoor bath to look at the evening sky and landscape. A significant area of the property has trees with discrete open spaces as well as tranquil spots to enjoy the flora and fauna. Further, there is a creek, meandering through Wompoo that ensures a welcome retreat for quieter contemplation.

We have lived in the Daintree for over 20 years and have been hosting for 9 years. We built our house and the two bungalows. Providing people with the opportunity of staying in the worlds oldest rainforest is very special. Staying overnight in one our bungalows you will get to feel the energy and stillness of this beautiful place. This is why we choose to host so others can have this experience in this special place.

We are a friendly couple who respect people's privacy. Our house is 20/40 metres away from the bungalows. Guests are more than welcome to come up to the house if they have any questions or would like any advice on the area or tours. The Neighbourhood During the two hour drive from the Cairns International and Domestic Airports, you will travel the scenic Coral Sea coastline till you cross the Daintree River by ferry. Once aboard the iconic ferry you can sense the change of pace as you slowly switch off and start your journey of digital detachment (although there are now a number of places you will get mobile reception). Wompoo Eco Retreat is just five kilometres from the beautiful Cow Bay Beach. Other easily accessible places are Hutchinson Creek, the Daintree Discovery Centre, Coopers Creek Wilderness tours, tropical ice cream outlets, a yoga retreat and easy access to Cape Tribulation where you can access a snorkelling tour with Ocean Safari. There is a small number of cafes/restaurants in the area, however, if you would like to dine in at your accommodation the bungalow is equipped for self catering. We recommend purchasing supplies on route, however there are two local shops which have a range of food.
