Welcome to Sea Birds Cottage, a restored Victorian gingerbread house 1.5 blocks from the sea in the tranquil residential neighbourhood of Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Our quaint and relaxing guestrooms provide a comfortable home away from home for your visit to our lovely island and city. Please note: The "Deluxe Room" consists of a queen room, an adjacent private bathroom and a room across the hallway with a couch and dining area where you can prepare a breakfast and relax. There is no TV but we do have free wifi for light use. Other meals should by taken outside the home. There are many nearby coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. Your host Gail is a native of the city and the neighbourhood and has been welcoming guests since 1986. She is a pioneer of the guesthouse mode of travel. When she began hosting at this location there were only about a dozen B & B's in Victoria, it was a new type of accommodation here. She hopes to help make your vacation in Victoria a comfortable and memorable experience!

The residential neighbourhood of Fairfield includes a fabulous stretch of coastline along Dallas Road. Sea Birds Cottage is only a block and a half from beautiful Ross Bay beach on the Salish Sea coast walkway. Turn right when you reach the beach and you can walk past Clover Point and through Beacon Hill Park to the inner harbour. Or, if you turn left at Dallas Road instead, you will shortly reach lovely Gonzales Beach on the border of Oak Bay. You can continue walking or cycling for miles in this direction, discovering Oak Bay's spectacular coastline. Directly across from Sea Bird Cottage, you can walk through the 27 acre Ross Bay Cemetary, with it's beautiful varieties of pine and other trees. Across from the Cemetary on the Fairfield Road northern edge and two blocks from the guesthouse is historic Ross Bay Villa museum. Just a little further along the Cemetary you will find Fairfield Plaza with grocery store, pharmacy shops and a pub. Behind Sea Birds Cottage is Moss Rocks Park with its spectacular views. Watch the freighters and sailboats from an eagle's eye view at the top of the hill. Enjoy the many sea birds, gulls, ravens and hummingbirds who frequent our garden. A giant oak tree fell and broke the stairs to our hill, so we are very sorry that this access is temporarily closed. An alternate pathway to the hill can be taken from May Street onto Moss Rocks Park. Check in: 4 - 7 pm. Check out: 10 am.
