The bistro where you will be staying is the place for entertainment, and there are also a few houses, a church, and a sports/playing field. The surroundings are characterized by dense forests where you can spot birds of prey, boar, and deer. Walkers have many beautiful routes to choose from. Just under 15 km away is the Nerother Kopf, on top of which (about 640 m) you will find a castle ruin and a cave. The cave was created because volcanic rock was cut away to make millstones. Quite a climb but well worth it. The volcanic lakes this part of the Eifel is famous for are also nearby. For example, visit the Meerfeldermaar. Here, you can see its geological history and swim when the weather is good. Afterward, you can head toward Manderscheid to explore its two castles. Once a year, medieval festivals are organized here.
