Torfhaus is a very special place: high up, where the forests thin out, the high moor begins right on the doorstep - and with it the Harz National Park. Here you live in peace and quiet, surrounded by nature, and yet you are not alone: a small supermarket, cafés and a good restaurant are all within walking distance. The Brockenstraße takes you directly to the highest point in northern Germany - on foot if you want. The Goetheweg starts practically on your doorstep - one of the most beautiful hiking routes in the Harz Mountains. In winter, cross-country ski trails and snowshoe trails beckon, while in summer the paths lead through moorland, to viewpoints, old beech forests and small streams. You can also get around easily by bike here. For excursions, you can reach Braunlage, Bad Harzburg or Wernigerode in a short drive - and always enjoy coming back to your quiet accommodation in the countryside in the evening.
