The Surroundings The "Westphalian Sea," as our lake is lovingly called, covers an area of about 10 square kilometers and offers a variety of recreational activities such as sailing, fishing, hiking, diving, and cycling along its scenic promenades. The surrounding landscape, characterized by forests and nature reserves, makes Lake Möhnesee a favorite destination for nature lovers. The Möhnesee Dam, which creates the lake, also holds historical significance, as it was the target of an Allied air raid during World War II.
