Hexenhäusel – Your Charming Mountain Cabin The Hexenhäusel is a cozy mountain cabin with authentic alpine charm. If you love a rustic atmosphere, you can sleep in the dormitory-style loft above the kitchen, while a pull-out sofa bed offers additional comfort. The view is simply breathtaking: from the dining table and balcony, the entire valley stretches out before you, and the majestic Karwendel mountains feel almost within reach. From the terrace, you can also enjoy a stunning view of the impressive Wetterstein mountain range. Our outdoor area has recently been expanded: a new garden lounge and newly landscaped garden invite you to relax and unwind. We have also built a wooden shed where guests can find firewood for the fireplace. A grill is also available for your use. Whether hiking, skiing, or exploring the surroundings – countless adventures start right at the doorstep of the cabin. Please also note that, unfortunately, there have been repeated issues with dog owners in the past who did not follow the rules. For this reason, we have decided to no longer allow dogs or pets of any kind. Important Information for Arrival & Departure Please note that we are private hosts and do not live in Mittenwald. Especially in winter, snowfall can make access more challenging. Paths can quickly become snow-covered, but our cleaning staff clears the access whenever they are on site. A snow shovel and grit are always available for your use. Please be aware that the roads may only be accessible with snow chains, so plan a bit of extra time for your journey if necessary. For your comfort, the final cleaning is arranged once per stay by a professional cleaning company. The fee naturally includes fresh bed linen, towels, and a thorough cleaning of the entire house. We also kindly ask our guests to bring their own beach towels in summer if needed.

About Us – Your Hosts Our family has a long history with the Hexenhäusel: Our great-grandparents purchased the cabin in 1968. Since childhood, we have spent unforgettable holidays here, discovering our love for the mountains and appreciating the unique charm of this special place. To preserve this little gem and continue enjoying it, my brother and I decided to take over the Hexenhäusel. At the same time, we wanted to give others the opportunity to experience its magic, so we made the decision to open our doors to guests. Now, the time has finally come, and we are excited to welcome you to the Hexenhäusel!

Things to Do Around Hexenhäusel If you’re looking for adventure right from the cabin, you’re in luck! Just 200 meters away, the chairlift to Kranzbergawaits. Once at the top, you can explore the barefoot trail, a favorite among children. From there, we highly recommend hiking down to Lautersee, where you can go for a swim or enjoy a refreshing beer before walking back to the cabin. In winter, the Kranzberg ski lift provides easy access to the slopes. Mittenwald itself has a lot to offer: Visit the Violin Making Museum, admire the beautiful St. Peter and Paul Church, or take a stroll through the charming old town. If you want to go even higher, take the Karwendel cable car to breathtaking mountain peaks or start your hiking adventure from the base of the Karwendel. Fun fact for skiers: This is home to Germany’s longest ski descent! For hiking enthusiasts, the area offers plenty of scenic trails, including routes to the Dammkar Hut, Mittenwald Hut, and Hochland Hut. A special tip for families is the Geisterklamm (Ghost Gorge). This 3 km-long adventure trail takes you high above a spectacular gorge – an unforgettable experience and an absolute must-see!
