The Kolmenhof is a family-run mountain hotel in its third generation. Since 2008, it has been managed by Katharina and Christoph Dold, who have continued to develop the property with experience, openness, and a strong personal commitment. They first met during their training at the Hotel Bareiss. From there, their shared path led them through various stages – from simple mountain huts in Switzerland to high-end hospitality such as the five-star Lenkerhof. Further experience followed along the Baltic Sea, where Christoph worked as a hotel director. Over the years, they have developed a deep understanding of hospitality, operations, and working with people. Katharina brings over three decades of experience in gastronomy, while Christoph has been rooted in the hotel industry since his youth. They took over the Kolmenhof many years ago without a fixed master plan, but with a strong intuition for what a place needs to feel right. Over time, a desire grew to create a space that offers not just accommodation, but also calm, clarity, and meaningful time away. This mindset shapes the Kolmenhof today: a place where arriving feels easy – in your own way and at your own pace.

Originally built as a farmhouse in the 15th century and run as an inn since 1957, it is now a special place in the Black Forest where tradition meets new perspectives. At 1,078 meters above sea level, far from noise and traffic, the Kolmenhof is set within the open landscape of the Black Forest – a place where calm becomes tangible and nature sets the rhythm. Just a few steps from the house, the Danube begins. What starts here in stillness will later connect countries, cities, and people. The surrounding landscape offers countless possibilities: more than 1,000 kilometers of hiking trails lead through forests, across high plateaus, and to special places in the region. The area can also be explored by bike, with a network of around 400 kilometers of mountain biking routes ranging from relaxed rides to more demanding challenges. In winter, the landscape transforms into a quiet, clear expanse. The nearby cross-country skiing center at Martinskapelle offers up to 60 kilometers of groomed trails and is known for its reliable snow conditions. Snowshoes are available directly at the hotel. Beyond that, many highlights are within easy reach, including the German Clock Museum, the Triberg Waterfalls – the highest in Germany – and Europa-Park.
