All guests must be members of the DJH (Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk) or Hosteling International. If you are not a member, you must purchase a membership card upon arrival at the hostel. The DJH membership card costs EUR 7 per person up to the age of 26 for German guests and EUR 27.50 for families or guests over the age of 27 (half price from June) and is valid for the entire calendar year. The HI card for international guests costs EUR 18 and is valid for 1 year.
