The small town of Hatzfeld is located in the western part of Hesse north of Marburg, very close to the Sackpfeife and a well-developed ski area, the Edersee and wonderful cycling and hiking trails, in the middle of nature, in the beautiful valley of the Eder. The typical low mountain range landscape of the Upper Eder Valley, whose heights range from 325 m to elevations around 675 m, always offers charming views and numerous opportunities for various activities in all seasons. Many areas in the district are designated as landscape conservation areas and are thus largely preserved from human interference. Hiking and walking in untouched nature is still possible here. An extensive network of well-marked paths invites to walks or hikes in the beautiful landscape of the Upper Eder Valley. From the source near Lützel (near Siegen) to the mouth near Guxhagen runs, through Hatzfeld, partly over an old railroad line, the Ederradweg with a length of 168 km. In 8 km distance lies the natural area Sackpfeife, part of the Rothaargebirge, thus also the, closest skiing area.
