Our hotel and apartments are run by our family and have been so for the past 40 year, but our 40 years here is only a fraction of the buildings history. In the 12th century the inn was the first in the country to receive an official restaurant license by appointment of the king because he liked to stop there for a meal after hunting fesans in the nearby forrest and on 10. April 1940, the day after the occupation of Denmark in WWII, a german guest came down from his room in SS officers uniform and claimed the place as command post until further notice. In between there has been a monastery, stables in the back of the building and even a hanging gallow in at some point.
We're not a big corporate brand but you'll get to know us, grandfather Per is in charge of the rooms and if you tell him you like wine he will most likely invite you to join him for a glass in the restaurant where his son Philip is in charge. In other words we would like to welcome you as a family and hope that we can make you feel at home and among friend.
The neighbourhood has plenty of history as well, there is an actual boat in the harbour that sailors from Dragør used to smugle jews from Denmark to Sweden during WWII and lots of restaurants. It's a traditional old harbour where you can buy fish on the dock and the houses in the old part of town has straw roofing and cobbled streets.
