Sendero de las Aves is a family-run birding lodge at km 4 of Vía a las Cascadas, on the mountainside above Mindo, inside the UNESCO Chocó Andino Biosphere Reserve.The property has private trails, a viewing deck with feeders, and access to a river and a waterfall. It sits 500 metres from the cable car to the Waterfall Sanctuary, a 12-minute drive from Mindo town and a 45-minute walk.ACCOMMODATION. Two self-contained cabins sleeping up to 4, each with two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a private bathroom with hot water, and a balcony with mountain views. Plus two rooms with private bathroom and terrace, sleeping 2 and 3.BIRDING. Four toucan species, more than twenty hummingbird species, tanagers, hawks, guans, parrots and crakes are seen regularly from the garden and the viewing deck. Local Mindo guides bring their groups to bird on this property.FACILITIES. Starlink satellite internet throughout, free private parking, a fully equipped kitchen in each cabin, private trails, and a birder’s breakfast on request, served from 5:00 a.m.PLEASE NOTE. We do not have our own restaurant. There is a restaurant five minutes’ walk away at the entrance to the property, and Mindo town is a 12-minute drive. Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen for preparing your own meals.
