The history of our family's connection to this property dates back to the 1700s. The current sauna cottage was built in the 19th century and originally served as a traditional smoke sauna. Over the years, it has been renovated and updated several times, with architectural details from different decades still visible throughout the building. The cottage is small but cosy, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable short stay. One of its unique features is an eco-friendly composting toilet, offering a sustainable and nature-friendly experience. The sea is just 100 metres away, and from the terrace you can enjoy beautiful sea views and breathtaking sunsets. One of the most memorable experiences is running straight from the hot sauna into the refreshing sea for a cooling swim — a true Nordic tradition and a wonderful way to connect with nature.

About your host Liisa lives on the farm year-round and has deep roots in the local community. She has served as the village head and also ran the local village shop for many years, giving her a wealth of stories and insights about life in the area. Inspired by these experiences, Liisa wrote a light-hearted book about Lahemaa that also serves as a unique travel guide, offering visitors an authentic introduction to the region's history, culture, and hidden gems. Whenever possible, Liisa and her husband head out to sea to catch fish, continuing the area's long fishing tradition. If you're lucky, you may have the chance to enjoy freshly caught fish or homemade seafood dishes during your stay.

The village and the surrounding peninsula have a long history as traditional fishing communities. During the Soviet era, access to the sea was restricted, and many aspects of the local fishing culture declined. Since Estonia regained its independence, however, this maritime heritage has gradually come back to life. The peninsula is part of Lahemaa National Park, where preserving the natural environment and cultural heritage is a top priority. Visitors can enjoy unspoilt landscapes, peaceful coastal scenery, and a unique glimpse into Estonia's rich history and traditions.
