The house is situated in a luxury resort which is easily accessible on the A7/AP7motorway (the Mediterranean Corridor) from three airports with frequent, direct flights from the UK, Spain and many other countries (Almeria and Murcia, 1 hour, and Alicante, under 2 hours). The house itself is of modern construction with a large colonial-style veranda which provides shade in the summer, although the house is air-conditional and has a number of ceiling and floor fans for guests' use. Although it is located in a hot climate with high temperatures in the summer, the heat is dry (befitting a desert area!) and there is a breeze every afternoon. All of the stylish furniture is of a very high quality and there is a great deal of space, with two large sitting areas and a large terrace all around the house. There is every facility that guests will need, including a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, microwave and new water filtration system is soon to be installed, which will obviate the need to buy water in bulk at the supermarket. Repairs and improvements are carried out constantly, whenever required, with the aim of making guests' experience at 11 Powderhorn as enjoyable as possible. The two large bedrooms are made up as twin rooms for golfing parties etc but can easily be made into two large double beds, on request, with reasonable notice.
Desert Springs is a great place to play golf, tennis, padel, jog or bike or simply relax by the pool. There are golf clubs, tennis rackets and bikes which can be used freely by guests with no charge. The resort is very safe and patrolled at night be Security and Powderhorn (and a number of the other roads) is a cul-de-sac, with limited traffic and with low speed limits, so it is safe for children. The road has a mixture of full-time residents and holiday homeowners of different nationalities and shorter-term holiday rentals, The clubhouse, El Torrente, offers some excellent food - it is one of the three best restaurants in the area - and the Crocodile Club lively days round the communal pool (which is open to anyone with day passes) and even livelier evenings with live music.
The beaches are 15 minutes away by car or bike and a number of local towns such as Vera, Garrucha and Mojacar are nearby offering a variety of beachfront chiringuito restaurants, traditional restaurants in town and lots of bars, some more local and some more touristy, For watersports lovers, the reservoir at Cuevas del Almanzora is 15 minutes' drive and offers a wide variety of sports for adults and children.
