Our home had never been a ¨house¨ until we moved in. Previously it had been a bar/restaurant and then a Pharmacy and shop were created downstairs and the upper part was let out as holiday accommodation. We have converted the lower floor to our living accommodation except for the communal dining-room and in what was the dance hall upstairs we have created an open light communal sitting area with the 2 shared bathrooms and 2 of our rooms leading off.
Stuart is a Scot while Annette is a Dane. We both love good food and enjoy every opportunity that we have to walk in various parts of the Serra close to our village and to check out what is going on in neighbouring villages. A particular passion of ours is collecting some of the plethora of varieties of wild mushrooms found here almost all year round.
The Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche is a beautiful unspoiled part of Andalucia. It offers many opportunities to enjoy trail-walking and bird-watching. It has a justly famous gastronomy based largely but not exclusively on the fresh and cured products of the world-renowned Iberico pig and on the wild mushrooms referred to above. Particular favourite towns of ours in the Sierra are Linares, Higuera, Valdelarco and Almonaster La Real.....largely based on the excellence of the food provided by their bars.
