About the host We are Mick and Pirkko, and we have been welcoming guests to Finca Arboleda since 2004. Pirkko is Swedish and Mick is English. We met in Stockholm in 1996 before moving to the UK in 2002. Looking for a complete lifestyle change—and plenty of sunshine—we explored much of Spain before falling in love with Vera and the beautiful Costa de Almería. The area's authentic Spanish character, peaceful countryside and stunning coastline made it the perfect place to create our new home. For over 20 years, we have enjoyed sharing Finca Arboleda with guests from around the world. We are always happy to recommend local beaches, restaurants, markets and places to visit, while respecting our guests' privacy so they can enjoy a relaxing and memorable holiday.

Finca Arboleda enjoys a peaceful countryside location just outside the historic town of Vera, offering the perfect balance between tranquillity and convenience. Within 10 minutes you can be relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Vera Playa, exploring the whitewashed villages of the nearby mountains, or enjoying the many restaurants, cafés and weekly markets in Vera, Garrucha and Mojácar. The finca is ideally situated for exploring the Costa de Almería. The spectacular Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, with its unspoilt beaches and dramatic volcanic coastline, is within easy driving distance, while the cities of Almería, Águilas, Cartagena and Murcia all make excellent day trips. Easy access to the A-7 motorway makes exploring the region simple. Bird watchers will enjoy a great variety of species including birds of prey, Hoopoes, Little Owls and Bee Eaters. The garden is always full of bird song. The stunning Geode at Pulpi is fast becoming the must see attraction in the area. Golf enthusiasts are spoilt for choice, with four excellent golf courses nearby, including Desert Springs Golf Club, Valle del Este Golf Resort, Marina Golf and Aguilón Golf. Families can enjoy AquaVera Water Park, while Mini Hollywood at Tabernas offers live western shows, a zoo and the famous film sets used in many classic Spaghetti Westerns.
