Cortijo Opazo is situated in the countryside, about 1.5km from the villages of Pitres and Pórtugos. The apartments are comfortable and well equipped for self catering. Whilst the house is shared, the entrance to each accommodation is separate and the external spaces are private. What makes Cortijo Opazo a special place to stay is the large and extraordinary garden that can be found attached to the house. Guests can take a stroll around the 8000 square metres of land and enjoy the flowers and plants at all times of year, appreciating the magnificent views from many different locations. If you want peace and quiet with plenty of out door relaxing space, then this can be found at Cortijo Opazo. As owners, we want our guests to have the best possible stay. This means that we are on hand to answer questions or give helpful information, but otherwise maintain discreet distance, allowing guests to decide how much contact they would like to have with us. We can advise on walking routes and can lead you guides and maps during your stay.

We live on site with our dogs. Most of our time is spent working in the garden, it really is a full time job, but one which we are devoted to. When we take time off we usually enjoy walking in the local mountains, or cooking with fresh ingredients, either from our garden or bought locally. We enjoy the occasional trip to the coast or the city, but are happiest living up in the mountains of the high Alpujarras, close to the Sierra Nevada National Park

Many places claim to be unspoilt, but this really is true of the Alpujarras. Our local villages have not seen the hand of modern development, the houses are ancient, made of stone and robust chestnut beams. The streets and narrow and labyrinthine. The mountains and the valleys are mighty and impressive. And since the area now enjoys a special protection status as a designated area of social and cultural interest, the unique nature of the Alpujarras has been preserved for the future. It is a great location for walking, photography, bird spotting, nature in general, and riding, but above all, it is one of the most relaxing places you could find.
