Hi! We are Manolo and Jaime. A few years ago, we decided to take a leap and change our lives completely. We left the city's frantic pace behind to start a new, peaceful, and authentic chapter in the high Alpujarra of Granada. We live on-site at La Placeta Guesthouse with our twins, Abril and León, and our large furry family: our dogs Flamenca and Dado, and our beloved cat Candela, whom you will surely spot soaking up the sun in the garden. We are passionate about sharing this peaceful corner of the world with people who, like us, are looking to disconnect and reconnect with nature. We’ll be delighted to recommend our favorite trails through La Taha, the Poqueira Gorge (Capileira, Bubión, and Pampaneira), Trevélez, or the hidden gems of Pórtugos to make your stay truly unforgettable. Pet-Friendly at La Placeta We know how important it is to travel with your life companions. To fully enjoy everything the area has to offer, we recommend booking several nights, as numerous trails start directly from our doorstep: - La Taha Circular Route: A gem of traditional paths that allows you to visit Pitres, Capilerilla, Atalbéitar, Mecina Fondales, Mecinilla, Ferreirola, and Fondales on foot, returning to La Placeta without ever needing your car. - Poqueira Gorge: Just a stone's throw away, you can hike the trail connecting the three most iconic villages of the Alpujarra: Pampaneira, Bubión, and Capileira. An essential route to admire the Moorish architecture and high-mountain landscapes. - The Mulhacén Challenge: For the more adventurous, you can start routes of varying difficulty from here, including the trek to the highest peak in the Iberian Peninsula! - Natural Wonders: Don't miss the nearby Fuente Agria and the Chorreón waterfall in Pórtugos, along with the emblematic Churriana neighborhood—key landmarks of local Alpujarran architecture and nature.
