Legendarium Casa Rural is an authentic mountain house from León, built in stone and wood and lovingly restored to blend traditional character with modern comforts. Spread across two floors, it features a spacious living room with a wood-burning fireplace, a separate dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with all appliances, three bedrooms and two full bathrooms with showers, sleeping up to 6 guests. Outside, you'll find a stone patio with a wooden porch, a covered barbecue you can use year-round, and a chill-out area tucked beneath the mountain rock — everything you need for long, lazy afternoons outdoors. The house offers free Wifi, a TV with streaming access, and board games. Pets are welcome. The house has central heating with radiators throughout, in addition to the wood-burning fireplace in the living room. Free parking is available outdoors within the village itself. Several rooms offer mountain views, and a small stream runs right in front of the house, flowing into the Dueñas River, which crosses the entire village. Salamón sits at the heart of the Eastern Leonese Mountains, within the Riaño y Mampodre Regional Park and right at the gateway to the Picos de Europa. Trails leave straight from the house for hikers of every level — from easy walks along the Riaño reservoir, with water activities and spectacular views, to demanding routes for the more adventurous. This is a land of mountain wildlife, ancient forests, and family days out surrounded by silence and clean air. A genuinely natural setting, perfect for unplugging at any time of year.
We're Miriam and Héctor, a young couple who share a real passion for the mountains, nature, and animals. We decided to restore this stone house in Salamón because we wanted other people to experience what we felt the first time we arrived here: the silence, the clean air, and that feeling of being somewhere truly authentic, far from the pace of the city. We take care of every detail in the house so you feel like you're in your own mountain home, not just another place to stay. We love being available to recommend hiking routes suited to your level, tell you where to spot local wildlife, or simply give you some privacy if all you're after is to switch off. We're animal lovers ourselves, so if you're traveling with a pet, we know how much they mean to you — you're both welcome with open arms. We love sharing this land we care so much about, and if you're curious about the area, the nearby villages, or León's local food, we'll be happy to tell you everything we know. For us, the best part of hosting is watching guests fall in love with this place just as much as we have. We hope to welcome you to Legendarium soon.
Salamón sits in the valley of the Dueñas River, in the Eastern Leonese Mountains, right at the gateway to the Picos de Europa. In summer, the river itself has natural pools for swimming, and just a few minutes away lies the Riaño reservoir, where you can go canoeing, paddleboarding, jet skiing, or simply take a boat ride around what locals call the "Leonese fjords." The village is overlooked by Peña de las Pintas, with hiking trails for every level, and from here paths also lead to the hidden Anciles Valley, where the European bison was once reintroduced. This is wild mountain country: chamois, roe deer, wild mountain goats, wolves, and, if you're lucky, a brown bear or a bearded vulture. In autumn, between mid-September and October, the mountains fill with the roars of the deer rut, and the forests fill with mushrooms — the Riaño Mountains are one of the best-known mushroom-foraging areas in León. Salamón is also one of the villages with the deepest transhumance traditions in the region: every summer the flocks are driven up to the Pintas Pass, and the village holds its own Transhumance Fair and is home to the Merino Wool Museum. In nearby Valbuena del Roblo, the Roblo Hermitage brings together the three villages of the valley every September 15th for its patron saint festival. Just a few minutes away, Lois holds a true gem: its 18th-century church, known as the "Cathedral of the Mountains" for its size and beauty. The Argovejo beech forest puts on a spectacular show in autumn. Charming villages such as Ciguera, Las Salas, Lario, and Burón round out the area, and Posada de Valdeón is the gateway to the legendary Cares Route, a footpath that crosses the Picos de Europa all the way to Poncebos, in Asturias. Every September, Puebla de Lillo holds its historic Mountain Livestock Contest. The coast is just over 1.5 hours away, whether crossing the Pontón Pass toward Cangas de Onís, Ribadesella, or Llanes, or the San Glorio Pass toward Potes and Fuente Dé.
