Can Traver de Besalú is a family-run project created with the aim of restoring and bringing new life to an old rural hamlet located near Besalú. Our team manages the house in a personal and approachable way. We prepare the rooms, common areas and meals with care, so that every guest feels welcome from the moment they arrive and can enjoy a peaceful stay. We know every corner of the property and pay special attention to what makes Can Traver different: its family atmosphere, simplicity, silence, natural surroundings and personal attention. Throughout the year, we welcome individual travellers as well as yoga, meditation, dance, creativity and personal development groups. This experience allows us to adapt the spaces and offer flexible, attentive support during each stay. Our aim is not to offer the experience of a large hotel, but an authentic rural stay: a house with history, food prepared with care and an approachable team available to help you.

Can Traver de Besalú is much more than just a place to sleep. It is a large country house surrounded by nature, designed for slowing down, resting and reconnecting with yourself. The house preserves the character and history of a traditional Catalan farmhouse. Its rooms have been restored while maintaining many of their original features and decorated in a simple, natural and uncluttered style. Most rooms have single beds and provide comfortable accommodation in an authentic rural setting. During your stay, you can enjoy spacious indoor rooms, reading corners, a library, a fireplace, dining areas, a terrace, gardens, an outdoor swimming pool, woodland, fields and a vegetable garden. There is plenty of space to walk, read under a tree, spend time together or simply enjoy the silence and sounds of nature. Can Traver is also a place for meeting and sharing. Throughout the year, we host yoga, meditation, creativity and personal development retreats, as well as travellers looking for a few peaceful days in a unique setting. Our food is vegetarian, homemade, healthy and plentiful, prepared with care and served in a welcoming atmosphere. We can accommodate allergies and dietary requirements when informed in advance. We are not a conventional hotel, but a spacious and characterful rural house. Here you will find nature, shared spaces, a relaxed atmosphere and a slower, more mindful way of travelling.

Can Traver is located in a small rural hamlet in Maià de Montcal, surrounded by fields, gardens and woodland. It is a particularly peaceful area where you can hear birds, crickets and the sounds of nature. From the property itself, you can walk along rural paths, relax by the swimming pool, explore the woodland or simply enjoy the landscape without needing to travel anywhere. Just a few minutes away is Besalú, one of Catalonia’s best-known and most beautiful medieval villages. We recommend walking across its medieval bridge, exploring the old town and discovering its historic heritage, restaurants and small shops. Can Traver is ideally located for exploring two very different regions: the volcanic landscapes of La Garrotxa and the countryside of the Empordà. You can also visit Banyoles and its lake, Figueres and the Dalí Museum, Girona, Olot, Santa Pau and the Fageda d’en Jordà beech forest. Girona and Figueres are approximately 30 minutes away by car, while Barcelona is around one and a half hours away. It is an excellent base both for relaxing for a few days and for discovering medieval villages, hiking routes, nature, local food and culture.
