Our house is in the rural setting of Berastegi, a village of 1100 inhabitants in a flat valley that crosses the GI-2130 road from Tolosa to Leitza, Navarre. In Berastegi the shepherding culture is arguably the main sign of identity, with cheeses that have achieved international recognition. Berastegi is a small village, but Pamplona is 35 minutes away and San Sebastian 25 minutes away, well known cities with a great cultural, gastronomic and historical heritage and close to the Aralar Natural Park. Tolosa, the old capital of the province, is only 20' away on a winding but beautiful road. The different annual fairs in Tolosa are very well known, beans, meat... and the weekly market. The room is a suite (23m2), with a full bathroom, terrace, very bright, desk with direct connection to internet by fibre, ethernet or wifi. The entrance with key, the room is located 7 steps from the main door and 20m from the parking.

I was born in the 60s and I am a "retired" Chef, if you can ever retire from cooking, as my passion is cooking. One detail I have with my guests is a surprise breakfast at the door of the room. My favourite music group in high school was Supertramp. I speak Spanish and also Basque, our language in Euskadi. My biography would be entitled: Work and family. My accommodation is unique because of its surroundings and 20th century art-deco furniture.

Matxiku, our house is 420 m above sea level, facing southwest, 1.2 km from the A15 motorway and 8 km from Leitza, both towns in the Leitzaran Protected Biotope with routes where you can enjoy nature. The first record of the house dates back to 1542 but it has undergone various changes and renovations over the last 500 years. We have renovated the house in 2021 trying to make it as energy efficient as possible. In this reform we have undertaken various actions aimed at achieving energy efficiency, solar panels, new windows, smart thermostats per room, etc.. We are only 200 m from the centre of the village and all services available. Town hall, pelota court, restaurants, supermarket, public transport, pharmacy... From the house it is not necessary to use a vehicle, you can walk and you will not find big slopes.
