My roots are in Finland, in Tohmajärvi, North Karelia, where I left to conquer the restaurant world in 1981. After working in several high-class restaurants in Finland and Central Europe, I started my entrepreneurial career as a trainer and lecturer in 1999. I have also studied to be a nutritionist in Finland and completed several nutrition-related courses in Germany. I use my diverse skills in my entrepreneurship creatively and with a relaxed approach. Karelianism is reflected in me as positivity and a life-affirming curiosity. I want to develop and develop my skills continuously. I also love baking! The food is always fresh and made with love.

Simple life in a traditional Finnish landscape. At Itärajan Helmi, you will stay in a traditional Finnish cottage with a view of beautiful Lake Tohmajärvi. If you are looking for something a little more exotic, you can also stay in a Tentsile or a glamping tent. Finlayson bed linen and towels are always included in the price of accommodation and our beds are excellent. There is a biological outdoor toilet near the main building and an indoor toilet is also available in connection with the main building. In the mornings and evenings, an authentic Finnish wood-fired sauna heats up. There are two saunas, one in the immediate vicinity of the main building and barns and the other on the lake shore, about 600 meters away. There is a hot tub in connection with the sauna on the hill, and on the shore you can take a dip in the refreshing water of Lake Tohmajärvi if you wish. Also ask about the possibility of a sauna raft cruise! Breakfast and other meals are served in the well-equipped summer kitchen located near the main building and barns, which also serves as a cozy place to hang out. At meals, you can enjoy fresh rolls and pastries, as well as local and nearby delicacies.

On the opposite bank is Unelmien Uimaranta, which has a café in the summer. We can pack lunches for cyclists if needed! And hey, we are part of the Welcome Cyclist network!
