Kaijonselkä – previously called Häyrilä – is a former dairy cattle farm in Kaitainen at Joroinen in Finland`s Lakeland Region. There were 20 cows in the old stone cattle shed untill the Summer 2007. The same family has lived at the farm since 1718. Häyrilä farm operated as a guesthouse halfway on the way from Juva to Joroinen. After the guesthouse was closed the accommodation operation paused for dozens of years. The cottage hiring started at the end of the 1970s with a cottage, at times there has been more cottages for hire. At this moment Kaijonselkä hires the other appartment of the main building as well as the Kaita and Pyhitty Cottages.

Kaita Cottage locates by the Kaita Lake in Joroinen and it has been renovated in the Spring 2020. The kitchen, WC, sauna, and all the floorings have been renewed and the cottage is now heated by geothermal heat. This holiday home is fit for winter habitation, extremely cosy, and well equipped – including wireless WiFi. Ideal also for bigger crowd During the Summer season there is room easily even for ten vacationers in the cottage and a sleeping hut. There is also a spacious barbeque hut which is ideal for to have breakfast or to spend evenings. After the Summer the sleeping hut is closed but the cottage has room around the year for six overnighters in the bedroom upstairs, loft, and on the sofa-bed downstairs. Kaita Cottage is easy to reach: the cottage is located two kilometers from the main road no 5 in the village of Kaitainen between Juva and Joroinen. The closest supermarkets and services are in Juva and Joroinen. It is also easy to make day trips by car to Kuopio (100 km), Mikkeli (60 km), Savonlinna (80 km), and Varkaus (40 km).

In Joroinen and Juva you can find shops, supermarkets and restaurants. By car the cities of Eastern Finland Kuopio (100 km), Mikkeli (60 km), Savonlinna (80 km) and Varkaus (40 km) are good day trip destinations.
