English owners Rachael and Mark moved to Carcassonne in 2016 to restore the elegant 1850's townhouse and create a bed and breakfast in this hugely popular tourist destination.

Property info

Carcassonne Townhouse is situated on Rue Bellevue - translated as 'beautiful view'. The view of the medieval Cite from the balconied facade of the elegant townhouse is magnificent, with only the riverside park and flowing river Aude separating the property from the foot of the towering battlements. Carcassonne's modern centre, Bastide Saint-Louis, with its numerous restaurants, cafes and shops, together with the historic Canal du Midi, is only a 10 minute walk away.

Perched on a rocky hilltop and bristling with zigzag battlements, stout walls and spiky turrets, the fortified city of Carcassonne looks like something out of a children’s storybook when it's seen from afar. A Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997, it’s most people’s idea of the perfect medieval castle.
