Morzine is a pretty alpine town situated in the Haute Savoie region of France close to the border with Switzerland, taking c.1hr 15 to get to/ from Geneva airport. It is linked to the ski resorts of Avoriaz, Les Gets, Châtel and Champéry forming part of the enormous Portes du Soleil ski area, which ranks among the two largest ski areas in the world. Chalet Mathilde is situated at 431 Route de Morzine, 40m from the bus stop which (in winter) takes you in the Morzine direction to the Super Morzine cable car for direct access to Avoriaz or to Pleney for access to the Les Gets area. The bus in the other direct takes you to the Ardent cable car for access to Avoriaz or the Chatel area and Switzerland beyond. You should arrive at the lifts in 5–10 minutes. Montriond is only 5 minutes walk and you will find a small supermarket, 3 bars/restaurants, and a ski shop. Morzine centre takes around 15 minutes by foot.
