Domaine Darricau has been a family property for two centuries. The Sargos family are committed to bringing the estate to life, and have opened modern, comfortable gîtes in a number of refurbished old buildings. Hundreds of visitors have been able to explore the 50 hectares of forest parkland over the last 4 years. Our gîtes have been listed on Booking since January 2025.

Ideally situated on the shores of Lake Aureilhan, nine kilometres from the beaches of Mimizan, Domaine Darricau is an old Landes estate built in the 18th century. Fifty hectares of wooded parkland, gardens and meadows dedicated to horses surround the manor house of one of Napoleon's generals. The manor is surrounded by old rural buildings that have been converted into modern, comfortable accommodation. When he came to Mimizan to stay with his friend the Duke of Westminster, Winston Churchill liked to set up his amateur painter's easel in front of the dovecote or the cork oaks of Darricau. Now it's your turn to enjoy one of the most beautiful estates in the Landes region, with its exceptional reserve of space and nature. At the entrance to the park, discover the Lous Chivaus equestrian centre and the activities it offers throughout the year. Explore the Landes forest on horseback or by bike, thanks to the extensive network of cycle paths and quiet roads. Soak up the sun and the ocean on the magnificent beaches of the Atlantic - such as the beaches at Mimizan or the wild Lespecier beach at Bias. From Darricau, stroll along the lake in summer to the colourful symphony of Mimizan's Promenade Fleurie and the fairytale château where the Duke of Westminster entertained Coco Chanel. In autumn, come and pick the porcini mushrooms that abound in our park, under the russet ferns, and enjoy the peace of the late season. At the same time, the proximity of Mimizan will provide you with all the necessary shops and facilities (including several doctors' surgeries), with a Lidl supermarket 500 metres away and a Leclerc hypermarket 2 kilometres away. A little paradise for nature lovers and their dogs.

The lake is at the end of the driveway, with the ocean 8km away (12 minutes by car). For your activities, golf a few minutes away, horse-riding at the entrance to the property to visit the park on horseback as far as the lake, parachuting or tree climbing, kayaking, pedal-boating or paddle-boarding on the lake, walking in the forest, mountain biking in the forest or cycling to the ocean via a 30-minute cycle route, etc. There are plenty of shops nearby, including 2 supermarkets and hypermarkets just 3 minutes away by car. A health centre, pharmacies and vets are located in Mimizan (5 minutes' drive).
