Gite du Calme is a traditional Charentaise lime stone building with 3 double bedrooms all with private Salle de Bain / en-suite shower room with WC. The house is very private, in a large garden with free parking, swimming pool, swimming pool, badminton, ping pong, BBQ. We are surrounded by the Cognac vineyards and forest. The house has a comfortable Salon/lounge and large cuisine / kitchen where petit dejeuner / breakfast is served. Bedroom / Chambre 1 ( Acacia ) for 2 people / pour 2 personnes is on the ground floor / rez de chaussée. Bedroom / Chambre 2 ( Pine ) for 2 people / pour 2 personnes is on the first floor / premier étage. Bedroom / Chambre 3 is the family suite / suite familiale - suitable for 2 adults and 2 children is also on the first floor / premier étage. All the rooms have tea and coffee and the bathrooms have complimentary products. Dinner can be ordered upon request.

We live on site at Gite du Calme - the region is rich in cultural activities, and there is always a music, dance, film or book festival. The fresh local food and drink are delicious - these include cheeses, Cognac, Pineau and wines. Oysters and mussels and cep mushrooms +++ more! On the river Charente you can hire rowing boats, pedalos or canoes or even take a slow cruise, swim or simply walk or cycle along the river.

We are 10km from the ville of Cognac. For Cognac Connaisseurs you can visit the small independent, boutique, large or Grand Cognac houses for a tour and tasting / dégustation. We are also just 10 km from the ville of Saintes, which was the Roman capital of France. If you like Roman architecture you will have a real treat! The region is well known for its oysters /huîtres and mussels/moules that can be bought everyday fresh from the markets in Saintes or Cognac. There are many tourist attractions in the region on and around the beautiful Charente river, the tourists office has all the information on a daily basis as well as here at Gite du Calme. Restaurants and cafes and shopping are abundant. Both Saintes and Cognac love their cultural activity with a full programme at the theatres and cinema.
