ABOUT THE PROPERTY This beautiful traditional Charentais farmhouse was build around the mid 1800’s and was originally used as a farm for chickens and turkeys, in the early 1990’s it was then sold to an English gentleman who renovated the farm to become his home, he built an extension that has now become the holiday home /gite. There are only 4 properties in the hamlet, that is well away from the main road and surrounded by the beautiful French countryside. The grounds surround the whole house and is divided off for privacy for guests, although the hosts live on the property they cannot be seen and the gite garden is completely enclosed and very large. There is also a fenced off pond for safety with seating area to view, and waterfall. The pond has koi Karp and goldfish these fish are our pets .

Liz and Alan would like to welcome you, your family /friends to our beautiful home. We made the big decision to leave our family and friends in England to start a new life in the beautiful Charente Maritime, after visiting friends who live not far from here. Alan works full time as a builder and we got married in the local Marie in 2021 , I was a carer for the elderly in England but now I just love being a home maker so opening up half our house for people to enjoy is a great way for me to do what I enjoy and get to meet new people.

Our house/gite is central to many towns and villages to explore for the history with cafes and restaurants. The closest being Jonzac a twenty-minute drive famous for ‘Thermes de Jonzac’ a spa for treatment and relaxation. In the centre of Jonzac there is a Chateau with bars and restaurants, near by the ‘Pisine Les Antilles ‘, a water park with slides, leisure and swimming pools, plus a sauna and a beauty spa. Royan is about an hour drive with its south facing sheltered waters and beaches. In Royan are places to have a family day out, ‘Planet Exotica’ spread over 7.6 hectares has exotic animals and amusement park or why not visit the ‘Royan Museum’ detailing the ‘German occupation of Royan’. Bordeaux , about an hour drive has beautiful buildings from the 18th to 19th-century including the ‘Gothic Cathedrale Saint-Andre ‘ museums , shopping centres and bars and restaurants . We are situated 45 minutes from Cognac , best known types of brandy or eau de vie . Baignes is our local village located five kms away, located within are bars, restaurants, supermarket, pharmacy and medical facilities.
