L'Impasse du Temple is described in french as a maison de maître. As a substantial town house, it lends itself to its new life as a bed and breakfast with generously proportioned rooms and delightful views of the nearby hills. The property is so named because it includes in the renovated inner courtyard vestiges of its original function as a protestant chapel. Tables d'hotes (or evening meals) are served in this space during summer (dinners must be booked before your arrival). Across the impasse there is a large garden with a salt water pool.
in 1999 we came to France to look for a property, hoping to start a new life in France as owners of a bed and breakfast. We fell in love with this area of South West France, found a perfect property for renovation and voila! After 18 years of living in this lovely area of the Midi Pyrenees we are still enjoying our life here. There is still so much to discover, or revisit, and we love to share this knowledge with our guests.
Leran is a small working village of 600 people. This area is steeped in Cathar history and dotted with important Cathar chateaux as well as the beautiful villages of Mirepoix, Camon Roquefixade and Foix. In a largely rural landscape with little industry there is also much outstanding natural beauty, Holiday activities offer something for everyone from the high activity of a breathtaking bike ride to a gentle country ramble or a sail around the nearby Lac Montbel. All rooms are supplied with suggested itineraries with maps and descriptions to help guests enjoy their time here.
