Our chalet offers its visitors the chance to recharge in this little corner of paradise. With spectacular views of the Pyrenees, a chimney and a little kitchen. La Forge is perfect for those who need a relaxing getaway, surrounded by forests and fields. For an additional price, we offer our visitors to a full culinary experience by enjoying our table d’hôtes, garden-fresh meals, open-fire cooking, culinary workshops, and drinks for a stay full of discoveries and memorable shared moments. La Forge is a little Chalet with a double bed, comfortably fitting a couple and the option to add a baby bed (per request). The property is part of a working farm which is home to an international, intergenerational co-living project. It is, however, set up in such a way that our guests have the privacy and peace that they need. Please note we are unfortunately not able to accommodate pets. We look forward to welcoming you and helping you make the most out of your stay with us at Mongrenier!
I'm Kathrin, originally from Germany and currently involved in the tourism activities here at Mongrenier. Even though I'm a fully-remote working engineer, I enjoy hands-on work on the property (taking care of sheep and the garden) and in general I really the outdoors. Hiking, cycling, running is what I prefer so if you want some tipps for those activities in the surroundings, I'm always happy to help :) However, I'm not here alone. We are a collective of multiple people, forming an international team that shares life together and takes care of this beautiful property. In general, we all enjoy outdoor activities but all have our own hobbies and interests. We are always happy to have a chat and share our experience or give recommendations of what to do during your stay.
We are surrounded by forests and fields so you will have the chance to fully enjoy the French countryside and escape the often stressful and hectic day to day life. From the property itself, there are many public foot and cycle paths, making it an attraction location for outdoor pursuits. The nearest supermarket is in Limoux, which is a charming market town about 15 minutes away by car. There is plenty to explore in the area, including the historic city of Carcassonne, the Abbaye de St. Hilaire and many buildings from the Cathar dynasty. For outdoor swimming, the lac de Montbel is a short car journey away and stunning sandy beaches at Gruissan and Narbonne are just over an hour away by car.
