La Maison de Beaumont is situated in the small village of Beaumont-de-Pertuis, in the heart of Luberon, the most beautiful region of Provence. The property was acquired in 2017, by American-French New Yorkers, who fell in love with the town and its surroundings during a summer vacation. The property opened its doors to travelers in the summer of 2020, after 3 long years of renovation. It is composed of 6 apartments (2 studios and 4 one bedrooms) which are available for both short and long term rentals. The house has a long history, dating back to medieval times. It was built over the ruins of the Castle of Beaumont in the early 18th century and initially served as the residence for the representative of the king of France. After the French Revolution it was rehabilitated and became the town’s elementary school.

Neighborhood info

Beaumont-de-Pertuis is a small village situated in the far east of Luberon. It was once a busy and prosperous place during the medieval times and in the 14th century it belonged to one of the largest communes in France ! The first writings on Beaumont date back to 1079 and reference Eucherius of Lyon who before becoming archbishop went on retreat in a cave overhanging la Durance river in the south of the town. Later on, his cave became a pilgrimage site and a chapel was carved inside the mountain. Thanks to its large area, protected by the hills, and the franchises (rights or privileges) that the villagers obtained skillfully from their numerous Lords, the village was called for a long time Beaumont-les-Nobles. The town’s current residents (roughly a thousand persons as of 2020) are called, les “Beaumontais”.
