Quillan is the perfect base for exploring the Pyrenees. Enjoy local markets, cafés and restaurants, visit the famous Cathar castles, swim in rivers and lakes, hike mountain trails, cycle scenic routes, and discover beautiful villages throughout the region. Some of the closer places we recommend you visit: Quillan owes its name to the three surrounding hills, La cité des 3 Quille which is sign posted for hiking. The local walking trails start at the bottom of our street up Le Portel with amazing views across the town. Lac de Quillan is a 7 min drive or 40 min walk from our Gite. Ideal for swimming, paddle boarding. Rennes le Bain with its relaxing hot springs. Gorges de Galamus is a stunning motorbike, cycle or drive. Have a refreshing drink in the cafe with a view. Château de Puilaurens is a be lovely to explore breath taking ruins or view it lite up from below. Chateau de Quillan is a short walk away. We are lucky to have many Chateaus in the area. Skiing in Camerac is 40 mins drive away and is open until the end of March. We sledged there this year! Gosh and so many more places to explore!
