This decision wasn't insignificant; it was a natural choice. A house like this cannot be left to decay. It is passed down, cared for, and opened to the world. Restoring Le Tilleul d'Hortense was a project of the heart as much as a life project. I wanted to preserve what gives it its soul: the family furniture, the generous proportions, the morning light that floods the rooms, the century-old linden tree that watches over the garden. And I added what makes a stay truly comfortable: air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, quality bedding, and a fully equipped kitchen. As a hostess, I enjoy welcoming guests with warmth and discretion. I won't be in your way, but I'll always be available if you need advice on a walk, a restaurant recommendation, a local producer you shouldn't miss, or simply a chat over coffee. I know the Corrèze region like the back of my hand and I take real pleasure in sharing its hidden treasures: the markets of Brive, the red stone villages, the trails that guidebooks don't always mention, and the restaurants where you can eat truly well. The four guest rooms are named after the women who shaped this house before me: Hortense, Marie, Noémie, and Lucie. Le Tilleul d'Hortense is a charming house built in 1870, fully restored to combine the authenticity of a traditional Corrèze family home with the comfort of modern accommodation. Located in Ussac, just 10 minutes from Brive-la-Gaillarde, it offers two complementary options to suit all your needs. Weekdays: Bed and Breakfast From Monday to Friday, I offer bed and breakfast accommodation. Three air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms, homemade breakfast included every morning between 7:30 and 10:00. The common areas—living room, kitchen, terraces, and swimming pool—are accessible to all guests. Ideal for a stopover, a business trip to Brive, or a peaceful getaway for two. Weekends and Holidays: Self-Catering Cottage During school holidays and weekends outside of school holidays, I make the entire house available to you for up to 11 people. Exclusive use of the entire property for family reunions, get-togethers with cousins, or weekends with friends. Interior spaces: Large living room with fireplace and library, dining room with a table seating 10 to 14, fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, high-speed Wi-Fi, Netflix. Four air-conditioned bedrooms: Hortense (40 m²), Marie (25 m²), and the Noémie & Lucie suite (50 m², two adjoining bedrooms). All have private bathrooms and showers. Exterior spaces: Heated swimming pool (May to September), large garden with a century-old linden tree, covered summer kitchen with gas barbecue, large outdoor table, and two terraces, one upstairs for peaceful moments. Hortense's Linden Tree is nestled in Ussac, a peaceful village in the Corrèze region, just 10 minutes from the center of Brive-la-Gaillarde and the A89 and A20 motorway access. A location I particularly love: the serenity of the Corrèze countryside, without ever feeling isolated. Brive-la-Gaillarde is 10 minutes away. The town is ideal for stocking up on supplies, strolling through the historic center, or enjoying its restaurants. Brive's market, held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings, is one of the most beautiful and abundant in Southwest France. I highly recommend it as a starting point for a day in Corrèze. Must-see villages: Collonges-la-Rouge and its red sandstone houses are less than 20 minutes away—one of the most beautiful villages in France, a must-see. Turenne and its medieval castle overlook the valley a few kilometers away. The Pans de Travassac offer an unusual and spectacular geological walk, less than fifteen minutes away. Nature & major sites: The Dordogne Valley and its fortified towns (bastides), the Padirac Cave, and Rocamadour are all accessible in under an hour. For hiking enthusiasts, the trails of the Corrèze region literally start right at your doorstep. Gastronomy & local produce: The Corrèze region abounds with producers that I would be delighted to recommend: foie gras, walnuts, apples, Corrèze wines, cheeses... There's no shortage of excellent restaurants around Brive either. Here, every day can be different—and every evening, you'll want to return.
