Situated in the southern foothills of the Montagne Noire, 'Les Houstalous' is a traditional Occitanie farmhouse offering stylish accommodation and home cooked food crafted from ingredients grown on the 18 acre estate. Located only 25 minutes drive from Carcassonne airport and offering unlimited access to nature, 'Les Houstalous' is the ideal base from which to discover Haut-Languedoc, a region perfect for cycling, motorcycling, walking, fishing, horse riding and of course famous for its Cathar history. Fill your days trekking across the densely forested slopes of the Montagne Noire and discover the best that nature has to offer, then return to the tranquility and comfort of a traditional farmhouse where you'll be catered for perfectly by your hosts Nicky and Miles.
Having spent 25 years as a university lecturer in England, my partner and I decided to change careers and move to France in 2018.
5 minutes walk directly to the rear of the farm is the beautiful Lac de la Galaube and its surrounding Forêt de la Montagne Noire. Situated in front of the farm is the UNESCO World Heritage Site 'Prise D'Alzeau' the water source for the famous Canal Du Midi.
