Located in the heart of the Basque Country in the town of Uhart Cize, our family run bed & breakfast is 500 meters from the town center of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, classified among one of the most beautiful villages in France and an essential stopover on the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. All our rooms have an en-suite shower, a hairdryer, toiletries and Wi-Fi connection. You can also relax on the terrace or in the garden. A continental breakfast is served daily. Private on-site parking is also available as well as a secure garage for motobikes and bicycles. We are a 7 minute walk from the local bars and restaurants of Saint Jean Pied de Port. From Maison Bernatenia, take the time to discover this beautiful region, the vineyards, the sites and the numerous hikes. We are located 55km from Biarritz Airport, 32km from Cambo-les-Bains and 11km from Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry.

Having spent many summers visiting family in the Pays Basque we decided to leave the hustle and bustle of London in search of a more balanced way of life for our family. There are three of us in this adventure: Laurie and Roberto accompanied by our son Mateo

Cultural sites Visit the village of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (“Donibane Garazi” in Basque), a fortified city, dominated by its citadel. Since the Middle Ages, this village has seen thousands of pilgrims pass through each year on their way to Santiago de Compostela. For sports enthusiasts, enjoy the hikes, mountain biking, rafting, water sports, fishing and horseback riding. Visit the local vineyards and enjoy a tasting of the Irouléguy wine.
