Set in the heart of the Cognac region, The Maison du Ruisseau is a stone built Charentaise Farmhouse. Surrounded by the peaceful hamlet of Chadeuil, it’s a place where you feel time has stood still for the last 2 centuries. Sheltered within a pretty walled garden, Ian and Val lovingly manage the house and it's dependancies, maintaining the character features while adding an elegance of their own. The 3 individual, private and beautifully appointed properties are fully equipped to the highest standard and have their own individual style and secluded terrace, but all share the garden, courtyard, swimming pool and orchard. Come and discover Maison du Ruisseau, where you will experience the warmest of welcomes, the elegance of the past and the highest quality accommodation in the heart of this beautiful area of France.
Ian and Val both met in the South of France 26 years ago and after living back in the UK and having two children, decided to leave the corporate life behind them to settle in this beautiful area of the Charente, the first region of the Grande Champagne with miles of vineyards and sunflower fields. Maison du Ruisseau is a beautiful restored Charentaise house dating back to 1838 with a beautifully matured open courtyard garden of wild flowers, lavender, wisteria, jasmine, honeysuckle and a beautiful fig tree. We took over this business of 3 gites, each with it's quality, charentaise style and individuality, and to increase it's popularity as a home away from home in one of the most beautiful regions of France.
Chateauneuf sur Charente is our closest town built in the plains and hills bordering the Charente with 3500 inhabitants. On market days Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays it is a place where people gather to sit and catch up in the local bars and cafes whilst leisurely shopping. There are two large supermarkets, three banks, chemists, bars, restaurants, doctors and a hospital. In the opposite direction is the town of Barbezieux St Hilaire which is larger than Chateauneuf with more restaurants a larger market and a hospital with an emergency department. Jonzac is just 15 minutes drive away where there is a large leisure complex with indoor and outdoor swimming, gym, solarium and spa. This pretty village has a market on Fridays and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to explore. Beautiful gites in the Chateauneuf sur Charente area near Cognac and Angouleme, all private and secluded within the premises with a shared swimming pool. Peaceful location amongst vineyards and fields of sunflowers. Excellent access from Bordeaux airport and not far from the coast in Royan.
