Maison Geze was lovely. Russel & Liz were super friendly and very helpful. They opened their home for us yet we still felt like we had our own space. Definitely recommend and will hopefully be back again.

Elizabeth and Russel were wonderful as is their property. Beautiful and a very peaceful haven. Breakfasts was amazing! I was walking the GR65 Le Puy En Velay Camino and this was a perfect rest stop.

Situated in the Plus Beaux Villages of Navarrenx, our Maison de Maître has been lovingly restored to provide modern day comforts with charming French style. Each room has its own private ensuite with separate power shower and bath. All our pillows and duvets are microfibre designed to feel just like goosedown; giving the feel of luxury but being completely hypoallergenic. Our bedlinen is sourced from a boutique hotel supplier and is 100% cotton as are our large fluffy towels. Rooms have a coffee machine with a selection of teas and coffees available. Whilst rooms do not have televisions, we have high speed wifi connections via fibre. You will be able to stream easily on your own devices should you wish to. Guest rooms overlook the rose garden courtyard at the front and the gardens to the rear. Please note that we have used authentic French furniture, that had been in a local family for generations, to furnish the rooms. The beds are European doubles (140cm x 200cm) with a headboard and a footboard. In addition to bedrooms, guests have sole use of a comfortable salon and a fully equipped dining room with a fridge for guest use. A French style continental breakfast is served in the dining room at a time of your choice between 7:00 and 10:00. The house is a short walk to the bars, restaurants and shops in Navarrenx.
Russell and Elisabeth welcome you to their home in the charming town of Navarrenx. The house was built in 1839, has been restored by us during the last 12 years. Originally from Australia and the UK, we cannot imagine ourselves living anywhere else now. Our friends and family have enjoyed staying in our home and we hope you will too. We have two dogs - Hiro and Aiko. They are very friendly however, as they are Pyrenean Mountain dogs, they occasionally bark to warn us. While we love dogs we appreciate that not everyone does. If you don't, please let us know. It is very easy for us to keep the dogs away from you during your stay. We also have three indoor cats called Maya, Bella and Nova. They live on our side of the house so you won't see them. They love running around the house so you might occassionally hear them! Lastly we have chickens - Mae-West, Gwendolyn, Mrytle, Camilla and have recently fostered Mama and our splendid coq Poussin. They live in the orchard and love having visitors - especially those with treats.
Navarrenx was the first fortified walled town in France (bastide) and you can still explore the ramparts and other associated historic buildings today. The word Navarrenx comes from the Latin phrase "Sponda Navarrensi" meaning the borders of Navarre. Jeanne D'Albret, Queen of Navarre, once lived in the centre of the town. The 16th century church has been both a Catholic and Protestant place of worship and is well worth a visit. Ever since the Middle Ages Navarrenx has been an important stop on the Puy route of the Camino de Santiago. It is also the home of the Musketeers made famous by Alexandre Dumas. Unknown to many it is the salmon fishing capital of the world! Navarrenx has it's own brewery and people come from all over to drink Shakespeare's beers. There are lots of other attractions such as fishing, rafting, kayaking, paddle-boarding, lovely walks in the country, swimming in the open air town swimming pool, tennis, and the local games of pelote and petanque, Further afield it is an hours drive to the beaches on the Atlantic coast and the resorts of Biarritz and St Jean-de-Luz, an hour to the Pyrenees mountains and an hour and a half to get to the lovely Spanish coastal city San Sebastian.
