Welcome to our family home rooted in the history of the valley! Combining family memories with modern comfort, our Névache house was fully renovated in 2018. Just above us, a cross keeps watch over the valley: it was built by our great-grandfather, Marcelin Carail, with his own two hands. Born in Névache in 1861, this modest farmer from the hamlet of Sallé raised eight children alongside his wife, Marie Anne Adèle Faure. In 1900, when one of their young daughters fell gravely ill, Marcelin turned to his faith and pledged to erect a cross on the promontory 1,000 meters above his house. One morning, pickaxe in hand and the wooden cross he had carved strapped to his back, he climbed the steep slope to set it facing the peak. Although fulfilling this vow was sadly not enough to save his daughter, his gesture left a lasting mark on the Névache landscape. Upon Marcelin’s death in 1938, this symbol of love and devotion remained deeply rooted in local memory—so much so that it was officially recorded on topographic maps under the name "Croix Carail." Over the decades, the original wooden cross gave way in the 1970s to a second one, which has now been replaced by an elegant wrought-iron cross. By staying with us, you share a piece of this family history and authentic heritage that form the very soul of Névache.

WHAT WE LOVE TO DO IN NÉVACHE ALL YEAR ROUND In Summer: Starting right from our doorstep, you can set off to explore our beautiful Clarée River, hike up to mountain huts, discover alpine pastures, and marvel at our many high-altitude lakes. You might even spot a marmot, a chamois, or a deer! You can enjoy a wide variety of outdoor sports as well as take in the rich historical heritage, such as the Vauban fortifications in Briançon, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In Winter: · Nordic Skiing: 25 km of groomed trails all winter long in Névache. You can head out right from the house! · Alpine Skiing Just Steps Away: The village features 2 ski lifts (a green slope perfect for beginners and a red slope). Groomed snowshoeing trails are also located near the village. · Major Ski Resorts: Montgenèvre (a French-Italian ski area with 95 km of slopes, ranging from 1,860m to 2,450m in altitude) is only 30 minutes away from the house. · Family Fun: Don't miss dog sledding excursions or unique outings with llamas or horses! In Autumn: · The Glowing Larch Trees: Their vibrant autumn colors are sure to enchant photographers and nature lovers alike.
