Mazot les Tines is a cosy little hideaway straight out of Hansel and Gretel. A small chalet situated between Chamonix and Argentière in the village of Les Tines it is well placed for skiing at both Les Grands Montets and Flégère – Brévent. There is free day travel in the valley for our visitors using the bus or little single track mountain train. Both the bus stop and the Les Tines train station are 250m from the Mazot. A favourite place for romantic honeymoons, it is set in a pretty garden with the Mont Blanc range as a backdrop, pretty stunning we reckon. Inside there is a dreamy little bedroom upstairs with a door leading to a small balcony and wooden stairs. Below on the ground floor you will find a shower room, a neat little kitchen (with small oven, hob, fridge and washing machine) and dining area, all in wood of course, beyond which is a living room with a large picture window (more views!). There are two mattresses on a balcony-mezzanine which are ideal for children. All in all it is the perfect getaway for a couple or small family. Chamonix saw the first small beginnings of Collineige when Colleen came to the valley, met and married local mountain guide Jean-Marie Olianti and together they began to build up a small collection of carefully chosen chalets and mazots. We can hardly believe that was over 36 years ago. In the intervening years the Collineige collection (still small and select) has evolved and the Olianti family has grown, providing some extra pairs of hands when necessary. Mazot les Tines nestles in the garden of the Olianti family home.

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, or Chamonix as it is more widely known, is a town and commune at the foot of Mont Blanc. It is France's oldest ski resort and really came to prominence when the first Winter Olympics were held there in 1924. The town is at an altitude of 1035 metres, and the River Arve runs through it as it does through the other hamlets and villages of the commune - Le Tour (1453m), Argentière (1252m), Les Tines and Les Praz (1060m) and Les Bossons (1012m). The population of the town is about 10,000, a population which is doubled by visitors during the winter and summer seasons.
