Gemjo Barge & Lock House No. 17, on the Canal Latéral à la Garonne, Castelsarrasin. Gemjo, our Dutch Barge (Clipper) 30m long and 5m wide, is moored at the Lock House No17, 2051 chemin des Courtinals Castelsarrasin (82100) in the Tarn and Garonne, France. She has been converted into a comfortable home, where we live aboard all year round. The Lock House No. 17 welcomes visitors during the day for a coffee, cold drinks and ice cream, and in the evening becomes a cosy and private retreat for your exclusive use. Halfway between Agen and Toulouse (by bicycle), we offer you a well-deserved break. * * * ~ GEMJO BARGE ~ On board the Barge, we offer 2 cosy and comfortable double cabins with breakfast included. Each cabin has its own shower and private WC. Breakfast is all homemade, local and organic with fresh seasonal produce. There is a large shady terrace ~ a space for breakfast in the morning sun, or just for relaxing. Inside, there is a comfortable and welcoming sitting area for the cooler mid-season evenings. A bookshelf and a selection of board games are at your disposal. We have a locked, private bicycle and motorcycle garage available free of charge. ~ LOCK HOUSE No. 17 ~ At the Lock House, we offer 2 atypical and comfortable rooms with breakfast included. We can accommodate up to 5 guests. A private bathroom with shower and WC will be reserved exclusively for you. Breakfast is all homemade, local and organic with fresh seasonal produce. There is a large shady terrace ~ a space for breakfast in the morning sun, or just for relaxing. Inside, there is a comfortable and welcoming sitting and dining area for the cooler mid-season evenings. A bookshelf and a selection of board games are at your disposal. A couple passionate about the canal, about barges, about life on the water (without the seasickness). Having created a welcoming and cosy space to our own taste, we want to offer you what we look for ourselves. Gen makes jams and other creations. Castelsarrasin has a traditional French market every Thursday morning, with a few stalls also on Saturdays and Sundays. Restaurants offer a choice of traditional cuisine as well as menus from further afield. We are right on the cycle track on the Canal de Garonne, not far from Moissac with its Abbaye Saint-Pierre and Cloisters (UNESCO listed) with the Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle Pilgrim Path. The museum Espace Firmin Bouisset (one of the pioneers of modern publicity) or the "Pente d'Eau" / water-slope machine at Montech are some of the excellent reasons to take a break with us.
